WELCOME

Dear Reader,

Welcome to The Hyph-n official website. Between the threat of a third world war and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic this year has been a challenge for many.

There are many issues that are not getting the coverage needed, but you, dear reader, you were there protesting and raising your voice.

From this, the idea for our magazine was born.

The idea for the name originated from the meaning of ‘intersected identities’. Because we are a human rights focused magazine, we felt it was important that our name was based on intersectionality, which is the oppression and discrimination resulting from the overlap of an individual’s various social identities. It’s about time each one of us feels safe in our own skin.

Our slogan is “empowering neglected communities”. Our mission is to turn a spotlight on human rights issues affecting communities that are often neglected by mass media.

We hope The Hyph-n inspires you to make a difference, to be a force of progressive change.

Albert Einstein said be a voice, not an echo. As an international team of journalists we hope our words encourage you to look deeper and push further.

We aim to fuel your fire.

We ask you to pay attention.

We encourage you to take action.
